Calls for Artists and Writers

Dear SOTH Members,

Good news! SOTH is pleased to announce a juried visual art show at the John M. Parrott Art

Gallery at the Belleville Library. The dates are Friday, May 3rd to Saturday, June 8, 2024.

This Call for Submissions is open to all Spirit of the Hills members.

DEADLINE – DIGITAL SUBMISSIONS
Monday, FEBRUARY 26, 2024

REGISTRATION
The rules of entry can be found on the registration form.

CATEGORIES and PRIZES
Best in Show ($200)
Best Painting ($100)
Best Photograph ($100)
Best Other Media ($100)
People’s Choice award ($50.00 Gift Certificate)

The opening reception will be on May 4, 2024 between 2:30 and 4:30 pm. Award recipients will be announced at this time.

JUDGING
1. The judge will be SONYA JONES, Interim Senior Curator who has been at The Robert McLaughlin Gallery since 2008. Prior to the RMG, Jones worked for a private art dealer in Toronto, the Canadian Heritage Information Network, and Carleton University Art Gallery.

2. All submissions entries will be judged digitally and will be blind (no identifying info).

3. All works submitted must be original works of art NOT previously shown in a SOTH juried show.

NOTIFICATION
Those accepted into the show will be notified by email the week of April 1st, 2024.

SHOW SET-UP
Accepted artwork would be delivered to the gallery on Saturday, April 27th, 2024 in two shifts: 10-12 and 2-4 pm.

SHOW PICK-UP
Monday, June 10th between 12:00 – 8:00 pm.

SALES
A 30% commission will be charged on all sales by the Parrott Gallery. SOTH itself will not be taking any commission. See registration form for complete details.
