Sue Wilkins

For Sue Wilkins of Campbellford, in work and play she always gravitated to the creative side. While her working life took a practical path following post-secondary studies of Interior Design with a 20 year career as a florist, then later as a designer of intricate quilting patterns, Sue feels the elements and principles of design instilled during those years helped pave the way on her painting journey.

Painting became a passion in 2010. Initially working within the studio setting in encaustic (pigmented beeswax & resin), Sue now works primarily in oil or acrylic. Her heart is definitely given to nature’s elements and the landscape of it. The turn of the seasons and the ever changing mood of skies and waterways are always a compelling inspiration to paint. Studies made on location, combined with memories of what caught her attention to explore the scene in the first place are what fuel her quest to grasp that elusive mystery of our natural world.

“During the process of painting I feel a special buzz whenever I come close to making mind, eye, paint and brush work together as I hope them to do. Some call that being in the zone. I call it a magical moment!”

Sue is honoured to have her work represented at Ganaraska Art and Framing in Port Hope, ON and is a member of Spirit of the Hills, and East Central Ontario Art Association (ECOAA). Current and a selection of past works can be viewed at www.suewilkins.ca.
