Carrie Grace Freake

A large percentage of my paintings are of local landscapes and waterscapes. presenting our beautiful home and the moments not only I, but many people of our hometown get to experience. meaningful parts of land that will be our past that we can revisit on canvas in the future. Animals and creations of our eco system with a colourful spirited twist. Also my work allows the most natural exposure of the beautiful, earthy uniqueness of a woman’s body. Don’t be scared to look, its creation of life at its finest.

‘Straight out of high school and into the working force. an arborist of 6 years at the time. clock in and clock out. in April of 2020 the entire world changed.  3 weeks off work, time was at my disposal. Time felt different; uncertain… as well as the wind, the sun and life as we knew it. I dug deep to reach for what I wanted to do most. If it were to be my last week, my last day…  I dug out my paint brushes and I painted. I really painted like I meant it for the first time since highschool before the working force swallowed me whole. waking up to notions of creative feelings. A new urge to let my insides out. the brush flows rich with moments of local sinking suns, farmers fields, calm water, and dancing clouds of colour; moody shapes, abstract animals and nude women empowerment. the feelings you get from these oil, watercolour or acrylic canvases are bright, warm, fresh, inviting… and more than I can explain. for your own eyes to see! Self taught, free range and craving to learn more; years of creative notions and finding myself is yet to come. And I’d love for you to come along.
