Spirit Writers’ Group
Everyone knows that writers lead lonely lives in attics and basements, working long hours but usually poorly rewarded financially. Spirit of the Hills Writers’ Group aims to provide an antidote to this miserable existence.
The Group is not a critique group—it is far too large for that with 30-35 members. It meets for mutual support, the exchange of news, literary discussion and the development of community over breakfast. Meetings begin at 9:15 am, on the third Saturday of every month, at the Grafton Village Inn, County Road 2, Grafton, ON.
The group supports, and members organize and direct, a number of projects, among them the publication of a second anthology, Hill Spirits II (Blue Denim Press, Spring 2015), the festival for readers and writers, Word Northumberland, under the leadership of Susan Statham, and the radio show, Word on the Hills. After all business is concluded, a guest speaker makes a presentation and the meeting closes about 11:30 am.
