Sunflowers by Louise Leclair-Aronson

Born in Montreal, Louise had a keen interest in the arts from her early years. Her tutor, Anne-Marie Bonhomme of Ecoles des Beaux-Arts in Montreal recognized her talent for design and drawing. Louise also received, at the age of 16, from the Montreal Royal Conservatory, her teacher’s license for classical piano.

When Louise moved to Ontario in 1981 she joined The Franklin Carmichael Art Group in Toronto and became interested in watercolour and oil mediums.

Her passion for gardening and in growing wild flowers is often reflected in her work for which she has received a number of awards including the Franklin Carmichael Award for Best in Show, Best Watercolour and the Ann Curtin Award for Best Drawing.

In more recent years Louise has also started working with stained glass, creating lamp shades, mirrors, etc and is studying in the art of fusing glass in order to achieve landscapes. In other words, she would like to paint with glass.

Since moving to rural Ontario, Louise became a member of Spirit of the Hills Art Group in Northumberland County. The beautiful landscapes of this area inspire Louise to further her love for nature. She will often be seen on the side of country roads painting alfresco.

Her work is held in private collections in Canada, the United States and Europe.
